Animated Book

This is for the independent animated short "The Old Man and His Grandson" currently in production and is a passion project created by fellow alumni.

About this piece: The director of our short wanted an animated book to open our story with and asked me to create a solution. I created the model and experimented with several approaches to the page turn until I got what we were looking for. I went with PBR texturing using Photoshop and Substance Painter with Arnold as the render tool. I created all textures and font art (T and H on page 2-3) in this scene except for the illustrations around the page edges. I sent the illustrator the UVs and they sent back the illustrations. Minor Photoshop blending and the illustrations fit perfect. Setup CG lighting, animated the camera and rendered out the scene.

Responsible for Modeling, Rigging, Texturing, Lighting, Animating, Rendering all assets except page border art (illustrations). Software: Maya, Substance Painter, Adobe Photoshop, Arnold
